Me @ drugs

Posted by DaveMan-CI Apr. 13, 2008 @ 7:14 AM EDT

This is a look at drugs in the United Kingdom, this view is not on other countries as I don't have a knowledge base to comment on the state in other regions.

From 'cannabis' to ' Heroin' drugs are illegal to possess and use, on the face of it this is pretty standard law in todays society. But the fact is that they are widely used everywhere you go, it's no secret.

.The goverment is the voice of the people

Now as the government is meant to be working for the people to run the country with the peoples money to make it better and have good growth, why don't they actually listen. The numbers speak for themselves. Pretty much everyone will have tried some form of illegal drug at some point, wether it's at a party or with friends for fun, it will happen.

Now the goverment spends LOTS of money trying to stop drug dealing and drug taking which is coming straight out of the pockets of the people they are trying to stop, this seems a little Ironic don't you think?

If they would legalise drug use and Tax it they would get alot more money to help funding the NHS and schools in the country, they admit drug taking is going to happen and isn't exactly going to stop, so why not get something out of it. Take something seen as 'bad' for so many years and take a positive from it.

I would be much happier with special clubs/bars where drugs were legal and taxed safe drugs were sold (with profit/gain to everyone) than them spending my/our money to stop/control a losing battle.

I personally don't use drugs, not saying that I haven't in the past but i personally choose not to, but if it was legalised I can see only benefits, such as safer means of taking the drugs if you are going to anyway, the drugs you do buy have standard tax and are made to a standard that is not dangerous. People would be able to do it in secure places so overdosing would be cut.

Take away the Taboo of drug taking, take away the dark side of the habits and it will become a lot safer and controlled. This will also have a positive effect on the crowded prison numbers and the economy in the country.

The problem is: most drugs are dangerous.

You can't really have 'safe' ecstasy as it has varying effects on everyone. Then there's all that stuff about brain damage later on in life.

I wouldn't say that Class A and B are used widely anyway. That's mostly addicts or rich people.
